Auumett Paige
Founder & CEO
Aummett Paige is the founder, visionary, and president of Anacostia-AMP Outreach & Empowerment Center. She is a life-long resident of the District of Columbia who works as a Life Skills Trainer/Program Assistant at the House of Ruth in Washington, DC. In this role, she works closely with families dealing with mental health issues, substance abuse, and domestic violence. She also worked as a Residential House Manager with the Community Action Group, where she honed her skills as a counselor specializing in helping clients with similar issues. She has over 12 years of experience working with this demographic, including working with formerly incarcerated women re-entering the community. Aummett is very passionate about serving the ‘least of these’ and shows a personal commitment to helping others in need.
In 2012, Aummett began a personal campaign to help others in the Anacostia/Ward 8 community. She began hosting the Good Hope Road Reunion Cookout in 2012 for residents (and former residents) of Anacostia. Since then, she has organized a committee of 10, who continue to serve the residents of the Anacostia community. In 2015, she hosted the First Annual Good Hope Community Day which fed and served over 300 children and families in Anacostia. She provided amusements, a DJ, live entertainment, backpacks with school supplies, free haircuts and hairstyling, and gift cards to Anacostia residents. The event was attended by Mayor Muriel Bowser and Councilwoman LaRuby May, and the event received media coverage from Channel 9 News.
Aummett has also hosted three gospel variety shows to raise funds for a local church, Free Indeed Deliverance Ministry and to purchase toys for the children of Anacostia/Ward 8. Along with the toy drive and a generous donation from IHOP (Alabama Avenue, SE location), over 30 families were served through a partnership with the Department of Human Services’ TANF program in December 2015. She has also received spiritual guidance and continuous support from her church, Free Indeed Deliverance Ministry (Apostle C. Eric Jones, Pastor).
In 2015, desiring to expand her reach and make a greater impact in her community, Aummett launched Anacostia-AMP Outreach & Empowerment Center (Anacostia-AMP), a nonprofit organization designed to create educational support, workforce training, community outreach/resource, mentoring, nutritional and cultural arts programs for at-risk youth and economically disadvantaged families. The organization’s mission is simply H.O.P.E. – Healing, Opportunities, Provisions/Peace and Empowerment. She says, “I have seen first-hand the suffering and destruction of my neighborhood, and I have even experienced my own personal struggles. Today, I have been transformed and renewed because of God’s saving grace. Now, I want to give back and aid in the rebuilding of my community by bringing H.O.P.E. to the people of this community, my community.”
Aummett is a very humble and quiet force. When it is time to get the job done, she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work very often using personal funds to fulfill the needs of her community. One of Aummett’s favorite sayings is ... “I dare to think different, do different and be different.” With this as her personal affirmation, she has been very effective in making a positive difference in the lives of the residents of Anacostia/Ward 8 and the surrounding DC metropolitan area.

Board Member
With over a decade of experience in the behavioral health field, I currently serve as a Counselor III at the Prince George’s County Health Department, a role I’ve proudly held for the past eight years. My work focuses on providing therapeutic support to individuals facing mental health and substance use challenges, helping clients build stability and achieve meaningful personal growth.
In addition to my full-time role, I facilitate substance abuse groups, including DUI education programs, where I guide participants through structured interventions that foster accountability, recovery, and resilience.
Earlier in my career, I served as a Supported Housing Manager, assisting individuals with emotional disorders in a high-functioning living environment. That experience deepened my commitment to person-centered care and reinforced my belief in each individual's capacity for transformation.
My dedication to community wellness and behavioral health has earned recognition throughout my career. I was selected by County Executive Angela Alsobrooks in 2022 as one of only 20 members of the Hope in Action Task Force (HIATF) and have also contributed to the Opioid Task Force. I was honored with the Prince George’s County Health Department Excellence Award in 2024 and named Employee of the Month in 2019, reflecting both my passion for service and my professional integrity. Academically, I hold a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Lincoln University (2012) and completed advanced studies in Marriage and Family Counseling at Liberty University (2014). I also earned a Mental Health Technician Certificate in Counseling and Human Services from the College of Southern Maryland, equipping me with a strong foundation in therapeutic practices and human services. During the Pandemic, I was certified as a Community Health Worker 2022
As I look ahead, my aspiration is to broaden my impact through leadership, program development, and community-based initiatives that address mental health, addiction, and recovery with empathy and innovation.
